In this space, Hayden Dendy of BRNS Design kept the walls neutral while creating warmth with recycled wood and antique brass light fixtures. "In this room, we created a cozy haven for a growing family who loves to entertain," said Lisa Shaffer of Lisa&Leroy. "I decided to paint this room black to contrast with the rest of the living areas and make it feel like a place where you'd want to curl up with a book," says Mary Patton, interior designer and founder of Mary Patton Design. Vintage leather sofas, white cowhide coffee tables, and rustic stools tie it all together.

Personal style automatically makes the space feel more like home, which is what a gallery wall in the living room achieves. "I usually keep them in the upstairs hallway, but it made sense to do a gallery wall in this family-focused study next to the breakfast room," Barton says.
